Listen

Our latest CD is now available.  Entitled ‘Ten Years On’,  it is a mix of slightly less common jazz tunes,  a “British Invasion” song or two and some of our original compositions.   You can listen to 45 seconds of each song below.  If you like what you hear, the CD can be yours for the laughably low price of $6.00, which includes postage.

A Breath of Fresh Air – Here is a lovely Bossa Nova written by Ron and inspired by his experiences at Jazz Camp West.  Bob Rawlings plays tenor sax.

Alone Together - This jazz standard can be interpreted in many ways, but this version with Mike Keating on guitar swings hard and is an example of a personal style we call a ‘D minor Fest’

Soon It’s Gonna Rain – A rarely heard ballad.  Kirk Fuller’s sax is eventually joined by Ginger Von Wening’s flute.

Think for Yourself - Roll over, George.  Or not.  These reinterpretations of rock songs are popular with patrons and staff at our gigs.  Mike’s liquid guitar notes tell the tale.

November – A waltz written by Ron, which shows off the lilting quality of Ginger’s flute.  This was written in the 11th month of the year, so when no obvious title came to mind…

Holy Land – This boppin’ tune is short but powerful.  By the 3rd chorus Kirk’s alto sax is truly wailing.

Zochi Milk Co. – A bossa written by Spike with help from Ron.  Ron’s piano and Ginger’s flute conjure up visions of colored boats in the land of the feathered serpent.

Soul Eyes - A much underappreciated jazz ballad that has a drifting, dreamy quality to it.  Bob’s saxophone runs the gamut of expression on this tune.

Sunny Afternoon - Another British Invasion tune reimagined by Ron.  Mike’s guitar seemed appropriate on this one..

Happy Little Sunbeam - a song which perfectly reflects it’s title.  Kirk’s alto sax bounces and glides thru the melody and solos.

Charade – This movie theme was written and is usually played as a waltz.  To make it more interesting we play it in 5/4 time and feature Marty Honda’s 5 string electric violin.

Quittin’ Time – An uptempo bop tune written by Spike on his trusty pink Stratocaster.  Bob gives it the West Coast cool treatment on saxophone.

That’s All – This is a traditional closing tune at Simply Jazz gigs.  It features Mike’s evocative guitar work and the bass and piano interplay on Ron’s solos.
